Default Confused about upgrading OS software.

Alright guys, I've been looking around the forums for ages and I'm forced to admit it just melted my brain rather then help.

This is my problem. I need to upgrade my iphone OS to 3.1 or above (for software reasons). Currently I'm running OS 3.0.1.

I would rather like to keep my jailbreak and unlock plus not destroying the device would be a bonus.

    iPhone data:
    3Gs
    iBoot-596.24
    Jailbroken
    Unlocked
    OS 3.0.1.

Any help would greatly appreciated. Cheers

Upgrade to latest firmware, goto jailbreakme.com from your phone, slide to jailbreak then unlock with ultrasn0w. You need to have wifi access if not on AT&T.

Just upgrade through itunes then and do the other stuff right? AT&T doesn't do a lot of business in europe.

Sorry to be such a tech idiot.

I just did this yesterday with my 3GS on 4.0.1. Worked like a charm
