Need Help!

OK so I am helping my friend with his iphone 3gs to jailbreak and unlock it. When i first got it, it was stuck in the recovery loop. This iphone had obviously been taken apart due to the fact they put an iphone 3g housing on it when it was a 3gs. THe problem im having is the wifi is greyed out, it doesnt display imei, or iccid or modem firmware and will not read a sim card. I have tried restoring and downgrading many times, but no anvil. The iPhone randomly restarts and has a message that pops up and says: Restore Needed please restore in itunes - or something like that. I am asking anyone for help. Another thing is is it has the old bootrom and is the mc model. COuld someone please help me with this issue or serious problem! Thank you in advance!

What your describing is hardware failure. The radio in the phone is not function. That's also why it keeps telling you that a restore is needed.
