Need suggestions about updating
I have an iphone 3GS on 3.1.3 so now since jailbreakme is there should I just update to 4.0.1 and jailbreak using jailbreakme???
Is there any risks using jailbreakme or being on version 4.0.1

No, and no. You can do it on 3.1.3 too if you are not jailbroken already if you wish.

I am jailbroken I just want to see the features on ios 4 cuz they look cool and if there is a jailbreak for that version then why not do it?

Some people feel like 4.0 (and 4.0.1) are slow on iPhone 3GSes, but like many people I just love to be on the latest firmware. If you have a lot of Cydia apps you should back them up . JailbreakMe will work fine on 4.0.1.

I won't back them up cuz I dunno if they all work on IOS 4 so I'll just redownload the ones that are working.
