My new iphone 3GS is on 3.1.3

I have just activated my new iphone 3GS and checked the fw. Its 3.1.3. Is this an easy jailbreak? I havent got much of a clue. Is there anything I need to know before I start?? Thanks guys and sorry if what I ask seems daft, I dont mean it to

Spirit will jailbreak your phone. Easy as can be.

Save your SHSH blobs first. I used an app on my pc called autoSHSH for 3.1.3. Can google it and instructions are there. Save it to cydia in case you need to downgrade. Lots of instructions on line on how to do the jb. I have the same phone and did it w/o any problems. Just patiently waiting for SW to jb upgrade to 4.x.

Also saving your SHSH will only save for 4.0.1 so you can downgrade to that if you ever upgrade past it, it wont allow you to get back to 3.1.3 if you mess things up.

Try TinyUmbrella it's easier to fine and works on current OS's.

Ok then you'll need the spirit that will work with that version of iTunes.

Ive downloaded AutoShSh 3.1.3/3.2 and will be starting the process a little later once my kids are in bed. That way there wont be any distractions lol. Thanks jkmonkey, Ive just downloaded the spirit fix for the itunes. What if I downloaded and installed an older version of itunes? I found these here:

You COULD do that but it's really no nessecary. And you'd have to go through the whole mess of deleting your iTunes library then re-adding it. iTunes 9.2 saves the library database file in a different format that's not compatable with older iTunes. It's easier to just use the modified spirit.

Ive downloaded itunes 8. Just uninstalling my current itunes then I'll install version 8.

When I use AutoSHSH-3.1.3--3.2, what do I save the blobs as?? Do I need to put in anything specific? Ive tried using it but when I completed the process, I cannot find the folder. Also, I get a java error message even though AutoSHSH tells me it was successful.

Use tinyumbrella instead of autoshsh. The only shsh's you'll be able to get right now are 4.0.1 since that's what apple is signing. Once apple stops signing a fw it's to late to get them.

Ive downloaded it and have opened it. How do I use this because the option to save my SHSH kind of faded and I cannt click on it.


Edit...........just been looking on the net at tutorials and it says I need to be running itunes v9 or 9.2. Do I have to have itunes running at the same time?

All done. It took mere secoonds to jailbreak. Ive installed backgrounder. I want to now unlock the iphone, what is the best app for that??? Thanks
