Well if you have 3.1.3 SHSH you can restore to it easily enough, just turn phone off, hold home and connect phone to PC this will put your phone in recovery mode, then make sure your hosts file is pointed to saurik and restore. Be sure to backup anything you need first.

Hosts: Caching Apple's Signature Server - Jay Freeman (saurik)
Selective restore: Shift+click restore in itunes and select the FW of choice.

I'm having some issues restoring my iPhone. I recently restored it to 3.1.2 (7D11), but now for some reason, I get error code(s) 1609, and 2004. I have a 3G and have never had this issue before. Now my phone has been stuck in restore mode for 2 days. I tried the updated version on iTunes, and still no go. I'm downloading 8.2 to try that. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

You have to edit your hosts file first and do the shift + restore to 3.1.3 ipsw, for more info read this :

Have you tried putting your Iphone in DFU mode to restore ?
Yes, downgrading Itunes to 8.2 will usually solve the error problem.Last edited by iYeow; 07-27-2010 at 01:28 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

I have a 3g with 3.1.2 firmwire. Do I need to save my shsh? I want to restore because when I hold down an icon and it gets wiggly, I cant move it to where I want it.
I have 3g not 3gs so does that mean I dont have shsh on my phone right?Last edited by blue81to; 02-06-2011 at 09:53 PM.

That's right, only 3GS + will have the shsh option. If you have a 3G, simply hold shift+restore, select your fw and you should be good to go.

i find that the resiest way to do all of the downgrading is with tinyumbrella.... all you do is start the TSS server and then open itunes and downgrade.... or just restore to the one you want
