The newest redsn0w will jailbreak the iPhone 3G on both 4.0.1 AND 4.1 BETA. All you have to do is point it to the 4.0 firmware. This has been tweeted by the dev team. I recommend everyone use twitter and at least follow Musclenerd.

fine ill spill the beans, i had mine bricked on 3.1.2 so i put it in dfu mode and restored it but since i had 4.0 previously and backed it up, so i had to restore to a previous restore then, once i did that i tried restoring it and it told me to update to 4.0 and i did, then i used redsnow and used the 4.0 ipsw and it took me three tries because my cable wouldn't fully upload the ram disk so i went thru the process three times and it jailbroke, and since i dont have internet, i used ultrapusher to unlock but, you first need to replace the included ultrasnow (called ultra9) with the newest ultrasnow by renaming it, rebooted it two times like ultrapusher said and i checked my about section and thinking i had 4.0, i saw 4.0.1... =D

... There is already a guide but it will be iOS4 Beta not offical as sn0wbreeze aint updated i was going to do it but id rather save my phone and wait for release, so lets not be a smart arse about it when its been known since early hours of this morning

sorry i dont really spend my life following every single update about iphones, i didnt know thats what people were into these days, i didn't find anyway to unlock n jailbreak so, for some reason i did (kind of by accident) so i thought i would tell you guys, well since you guys know alot, can u fix my iphone 3g problem...my wifi wont connect my home network, itll connect but it wont show the wifi bars ,and if for some reason it does the second i try to load up something with the wifi it disappears, and sometimes it wont show ip address, and says unable to connect... sometimes the wifi will be grayed out...

You can still jailbreak ios4.0.1 Beta on a MC model, because im on iOS4 MC model jailbreak.

Sorry I was not clear in my statement, ONLY NON MC (iPod Touch). There is NO jailbreak yet for any iPod Touch 3G/3.1.3/MC model, so anyone saying so is straight out lying

Im talking to the OP, in his first post he mentioned having issues with mobile installation patch, which is only used to install cracked apps
