DFU mode in Redsn0w?

Hi all,

I am trying to jailbreak my iphone 3G with redsn0w but I simply can't get it to go into DFU mode…

I admit that I am a n00b but this is pissing me off. It could either be:

1: I bought the phone as a "fixer" for 50 bucks - So the screen, lcd and home button is pretty messed up. I am thinking that this could be the reason why I am not entering DFU properly?

Or:

2: When I got the phone I think it was locked and had the 3.1.3. version software but when I ran the first part of redsn0w I reset everything and now I can't activate it again. - Can you only enter DFU when the phone is already activated?


I have been reading this forum for the past week and know that some of you are there are pretty hardcore. - Any help will be appreciated!

The phone doesn't have to be activated to use redsn0w, the screen would have nothing to do with it not going into dfu mode either, have you tried just powering up the phone to see if the sleep/wake button works,

I think my home button might be loose. It definitly works but I am not sure that the phone register that I am holding it down.

I read that you can access dfu without buttons but don't thinks it works with redsn0w and it does seem like a major task...

I fixed it!!

Hi, Can you tell me please how you fixed the DFU issue. I am having the same problem that my iPhone 3G is not going in DFU mode and I am also using redsnow...It is just so frustrating...can you please tell me what to do?
