iPhone 3g: Carrier Not Available
** To avoid any confusion:
* My goal with this phone is not to unlock it, but to get it working with the origional carrier Rogers Canada.
* DFU mode was used for EVERY restore
* While using fuzzyboot nothing was done, it was only used to find out the bootroom version, then closed.
I have an iPhone 3g that is with Rogers_ca. This phone was at 3.1.3 and then I downgraded it to 3.1.2. I used blackrain to jailbreak then blacksnow to unlock. After it was unlocked I tested a FIDO sim card, the carrier was not read. I then installed fuzzyboot which reported its on bootroom 5.9.
Then I restored with 3.1.2 ispw and it stated the carrier was ROGERS 5.0. Tried a rogers card to make sure it was working, but didn't connect to the network.
At this point I have tried the following steps.
- restoring to 3.1.3
- restoring to 3.1.2 custom restore
- restoring to 3.0 custom restore
- updated custom Rogers_ca carrier settings on 3.0 custom restore
- updated most recent Rogers_ca carrier settings on 3.0 custom restore
Now; I'm running 3.0 custom ipsw, modem fw 5.12.01, the most recent Rogers_ca.ipcc and still I am not able to connect with the origional carrier and in; Settings > General > About: "carrier = Not Available".
The only thing I can assume at this point is the modem firmware has been somehow corrupted. I should note that WIFI still works.
I am interested in everyones opinions on what might have caused this problem, and what a solution to it may be aswell.

Hey guys, so when I got the model number i looked it up on google and its saying its a FIDO phone. which would explain a lot, and its making me rethink my trust in the average public. Being lied to about products is a shifty way to sell things
Thanks for your help guys, +1 thanks for each of you.
