The solution for this, according to my searches, was to restore from restore mode instead. Once I was able to get into restore mode I was able to restore to a custom 3.1.3 using snowbreeze and unlock using blacksnow. Thanks for the suggestions though

I'm running FW 3.1.3 with a custom FW I made with snowbreeze.
I'm running Windows 7, not immediate access to a mac.
I'm getting the shutdown after 7 secs issue.
I tried using iBeej's custom redsn0w with the 3.1.3 firmware but i keep getting the unrecognized FW.
Isn't redsn0w 0.94 compatible with iPhone FW 3.1.3 or am I wrong?
If i had access to a MAC, would I be able to get my phone back using iBeej's method?
Any help would be appreciated.
06-08-2010, 10:56 AM #745Same Issue Different Problems?
I've got a jailbroken iPhone 3GS running 3.1.2 -
Unlocked using blacksn0w or yellowsn0w
Access only to Windows 7
I don't think I have the same issues as most but here they are:
I usually ignore the Cydia updates but for some reason the last time I opened it I did a complete upgrade.
Now My iPhone has an unusual amount of "Other" Memory (1.5 gig).
My battery life seems to be running out a lot quicker than previously.
Last night my iPhone was at 18% and when I plugged it in it jumped to like 44% - That can't be right...somethings definitely amiss.
I am convinced its from the latest Cydia update. Is there any way to "undo" that last update via SSH?
Any help is appreciated.
06-08-2010, 03:56 PM #7463GS 3.1.2 boot loop (updated)
1.) 3.1.2 ("This device has SHSHs on file for Iphone os 3.1.3")
5.) only at the official reseller store
6.) no results, though I'm not sure the solution fits
I've got a "Kernelcache not valid" message.
Since the time of the first "WTF", I've managed to read to 40th page of the topic, there the answer is
Tomorrow I'll try to get all the data backed up, then check BeeJ's fixes both on PC and MAC, report here!
1. b33jsn0w-ddc-0.1-win.exe failed (iTunes off, libusb uninstalled)
2. b33jsn0w-ddc-0.1-mac.app failed to open .ipsw (then it failed for the first time, I've downloaded .ipsw from a different location, but it didn't help)

06-09-2010, 07:56 AM #748Still working on a solution?
I am about to give up and restore after 10 days of struggle. I tried the msft.guy's method but somehow I can not upload the dmg file though I can upload the kernelcache. I don't know, I am not an expert but I tried so many things I found over the internet.
Are you still working on something that we could benefit?
Thanks for your help.

It sounds like everyone has been suffering what i have suffered yesterday for sometime.
I have read Beej, complete Mac solution and dont know if itll help my situation since ive been in apple logo bootloop from the get go. I finally got it into recovery mode and attempted to do another jailbreak/unlock using iclarifieds methods. It worked for me without issues before, but this time i used the blackra1n and blacksn0w method and once the GeoHot picture shows up for 5 secs it shuts right back off.
Im running iphone 3G with the 5.11.07 which is from my original unlock about a year ago, it was done when the upgrade was available. im going to try the beej method with a mac through a friend and hope it works. but i feel from what ive read that itll just revert me into the situation im already currently in.
I can not get into the phone in anyway. If anyone has any solutions that can help please do.
btw im a tmobile user not at&t, which means more importance to be able to unlock 3.1.3 if i do have to upgrade it. i dont care about losing my data, i can get all those numbers back

1.) OS: 3.1.3
2.) Locked: ATT
3.) JB'd: Spirit
5.) No easy mac access
6.) none yet
I'm not positive that I am suffering from this /sbin problem. I have a brand new phone (06/06/2010) with no photos, etc. I used Spirit - MyFi/Rock - Cydia to testout the tethering and wireless router.
That worked but I decided to return the iPhone and exchange it for a BackFlip. So, I proceeded to erase and reset the iPhone:
"Settings > General > Reset > Erase iPhone"
The iPhone is hung on the Apple logo after about 36 hours.
I'm a noob to this jb/ulock stuff so this may be something different.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks to spooky for the steps to get into recovery mode. My short experience with iPhone was waaaayyy to much fun. After this restore I'm off to the store to exchange the iPhone for a BackFlip. Thanks for all the help though.

1.) 3GS(New Model) 3.1.2
4.) Windows To Jailbreak, Mac To Fix
My Phone Hasn't Been On In A Week. I Tried Re-Jailbraking Countless Times With Different Programs On My PC & My Roommates Mac With No Luck. Yesterday, I Tried All 3 Of Your Windows Versions Twice, But Sadly The Phone Kept Booting For 7 Seconds & Shutting Off. Next, I Tried The First 2 Mac Versions And Still No Luck. I Wasn't Going To Try The Last Version For The Mac But I Decided What The Hell. VIOLA!!! Lol. My Phone Rebooted Perfectly. I'm Backing It Up Now!!! Lol. Thank You So Much For All Your Hard Work, Time, & Dedication. A Donation Is DEFINITELY On The Way! Thanks Again!

I bought an iPhone 2g from ebay a couple of days ago, I don't know the history of it but it's stuck in recovery mode.
I can get it to boot to the Apple logo but that's where it hangs, I have also enabled verbos ,ode on it and it seems to hang aroud where is gets MAC addresses.
I have tried doing a restore through iTunes with no success and in every which way possible.
I think it seems to be a problem with the kernel but no too sure, I came accross the SSh'ing into the phone but have come stuck!
When opening RamDiskBuilder.exe and selecting "018-6136-014.dmg" my computer just freezes and it comes up saying the program has stopped working.
I was wondering if someone could please upload or email me a copy of this file that has been run through ramdiskbuilder?
My email address is email@example.com
I also cam't find the keys for a 2g iPhone on 3.1.2 FW.
Thanks a lot for your time.
iPhone 2g running 3.1.2 FW
O/S: Windows 7 Ultimate
It's "018-6136-014.dmg.ssh" that's needed sorry.

Hi Guys ...
I got back my beloved iphone 3gs os 3.1.2 jailbreaked with pwnage 3.14
and hit by rocks upgrade issue yeesterday evening (late evening)
thanks for your great job ....
Just donated 10$ for the effort
Beside that since this thread is crowded i would like to ask some questions
After the last rocksh*t i noticed the battery is drained quicker than before ...
do you see any reason for this ?
Another 1M question .. do you know if does exist something like a Ghost for Iphone (or Trueimage if you dare) who backups EVERYTHING is on our pet so that in a case like this is just a matter to crack install the software and back ? (or better something that can start from dfu mode and restore the image ? ) it would be great (and well prepared to bet some bucks on it)
Finally .. i wrote to Rocks people to ask for advices (and a vague menace to sue them) and they told is not their fault (ROTFL^3) and told me to reinstall everything ...
I responded about your job and the fact that they MUST donate to you and better buy (if you want) your trick so that they can give people a solution to the problem they did for their own stupid*t*
I am a quite seasoned Unix jocker but a junior kid is enough to not wipe the /sbin directory on a unix system during an upgrade ....
Thanks again and i am open to proposals on the problem i noticed

1.) iPhone OS firmware version: iPhone 2g 3.1.2
2.) Unlocked or not: Unlocked
3.) Which jailbreak did you use: Blackra1n
4.) Do you use windows or mac.: Windows
5.) Do you at LEAST have access to a mac.: No
6.) The results of the applied FIX.: No go. Tried SC+DDC and just DDC, neither would save me from the 7 second logo and shut down. Looks like I'm left with restoring and losing everything
