I have tried all mac fixes including killsub and am still stuck in the reboot loop (apple logo, then screen turns white, then screen shows nothing).
I will try to get some pics of the verbose boot later.
Here is what iRecovery looks like (it looks the same as before I applied any fixes, but has a higher failed boot count:

Working iPhone recovery ramdisk with SSH ;-)
Working iPhone recovery ramdisk with SSH (Public wave)
As long as you are capable of backing up your data over SSH.
Here are the iv/keys for your ramdisk:

After looking through the images from the continuous reboot problem, do you have any ideas??? Seems like a very, very involved fix to figure out what is wrong, which probably means a long time to get a working fix. Is this a priority for you right now?? Seems like most people got it work on a MAC and are gone now... most people still here have the continuous reboot problem.
I'm not trying to push at all... I know you've been working hard. Just trying to get a feel for it, before I decide to restore.
Its been ~2 weeks and I'm about out of options and may restore tonight to my September restore point (i know... what was I thinking not backing up more!!)
msft.guy if you have any ideas of how to recover data, then please let us know or offer them to ibeej.

1. If I try any of these steps, will I being putting, or is it possible to accidentally put, my iPod in a different state that will make it not recoverable with iBeej's fixes.
2. Can I use this to transfer songs to my PC (I have always used sharepod for this).
EDIT: Oh, and, if I'm jailbroken, can I use a ramdisk from the original (unmodified) apple ipsw?

If you manage to execute that command and mount the data partition read-only, you can copy your music using WinScp with no chance of data loss.
2. Yes, music will be in the /mnt2/mobile/Media/iTunes_Control/. You should be able to copy it and then import into iTunes and it will recognize it by tags (actual songs are stored there renamed, but the tags are intact). Alternatively, you could find an app that can open the iTunes database, also stored under iTunes_Control (iTunes/iTunesCDB).
PS. Both unmodified and jailbroken ramdisks work, but you absolutely need a pwned kernelcache file.

So restoring the ramdisk will not affect future attempts to fix my iPod without a restore (if I decide not to restore, so I can help test iBeej's fixes, and eventually recover my iPod that way)?

Here's a download of sn0wbreeze 3.1.2: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
Note that latest version only supports 3.1.3 firmware, which you can also use to build the ramdisk, just be sure to match ramdisk and kernelcache version!
BTW, sn0wbreeze needs .NET 3.5, my ramdisk builder needs .NET 4.0, so you might have to install both, sorry

Thanks for all your help! I'll give it a shot.
05-20-2010, 04:35 PM #551Booting issues still existing after using 5.19.10 update
Still experiencing non-booting issues after installing latest patch b33jsn0w-sc-dcc-0.1b-win. I tried the prior ones as well. At the moment after powering the phone, it would display the apple logo and then (using the verbose selection) run through a series of verbose stipulations and reboot doing the same thing over and over. Apparently not booting into the OS.
The phone is iPhone 3G, running 3.1.2 and was jailbroken prior to the booting process debacle. Looking for any help in resolving this issue as I do not want to restore the iPhone and lose priceless photos and videos stored on it.

I tried your SSHramdisk approach, but when I type the "ramdisk" prompt and hit Enter, my iPhone flashes a white screen and restarts...thus no ramdisk is created.
Any ideas on this problem and how to get a ramdisk of my iPhone's content?
Thanks for any help you can give!

The iphone tunneling software failed to find a dll. I think it's looking for it where it would be in xp, and, therefore, is not finding it on Windows 7.
--After I send everything to my iPod, a progress bar does not come up.--
EDIT: "ramdisk" returns "panic: arm_exception_abortdouble panic in"
I ignored that and went on with the other steps. Initially, "iRecovery -c bootx" did nothing. I downloaded a newer iRecovery and now it forces my iPod back in the reboot loop. I used a jailbroken kernelcache via sn0wbreeze, and an original "*.dmg" (jailbroken would crash the ramdisk builder).

Well, I just tried the 5/19 version of the Windows fix... it ran OK, but still no luck. To be specific: 5.19.2010 4:00AM SC+DDC windows version...
I'm stuck in a reboot loop - about 7-10 seconds of the Apple logo, then a white flash, then a reboot again.
Verbose boot goes by too fast for me to see what's going on, but what little I can read before the white flash / reboot is talking about "Kernel continuation"... but it's really all flying by so fast, and my read on "kernel continuation" is not at the end right before the reboot...
I'm not sure of a good way to capture the last message before that flash, unfortunately....

Something I noticed from making my reboot loop video... There's a message about exec launchd failing "errno: 8". It's hard to tell, but I think launchd errors show more than once...

Got it: you need to execute 'ramdisk 0x90000000' !
otherwise, reboot and whitescreen.
Sorry about that.. -(

@msft.guy... Thanks for the info, but attempting the "ramdisk" command after loading the iBEC file and .dmg.ssh file makes the iPhone flash a white screen and reboot...and then shutdown in 3-4 mins (the initial problem).
05-20-2010, 07:13 PM #558
Did you first enter "iRecovery -s" before ramdisk?
I loaded iBEC and my iPod screen went blank. I then entered "iRecovery -f ...dmg.ssh", then "iRecovery -s", then "ramdisk". "ramdisk" returned this:

It's nice having a partner in crime. Glad to see you helping out with this msft.guy. You know an awful lot about this too, which means you are either a giant geek like me or very close to the dev-team. You obviously code and have ties to somewhere.
How are your reverse engineering skills?
C'mon spill it, I'm on to you.
Welcome aboard mate. I hope you realize what you got yourself in to if you're sticking around.
