Old or New Boot Rom ?
Hello,
I would like somebody who knows how to tell the old boot rom from the new boot rom on 3gs!
I have read that if the model number starts with MC its the new boot rom!
I have also read it the 4 and 5 digits on the Serial number are 40 and below it is the old boot rom!
My Iphone's model starts with MC and the 4 and 5 digits are 35 so my question is my phone old or new boot rom?
I am currently at 3.1.2 jailbroken and not tethered as I can turn off and on all day long and never have to hook it to a computer and everything is working!
Thanks

If you can turn it on and off without having to connect to the computer to start you have the old bootrom.

That is perfectly fine, that is why the forum is here. To ask and learn along the way.

how about my iphone 3gs 3.1.3
because the model is MC for my iphone 3gs but the number on its 3rd and 4th number in the serial is 06. is it an old or new bootrom? i want to jailbreak my phone but im not sure yet if jailbreaking my iphone is 100% sure working already since it is a 3.1.3 firmware. but it is factory unlock so i don't need to unlock my phone. but i want to jailbreak it. thanks in advance.

I bet your serial looks something like this XX006XXXXX right? If so, that means it was made like 2 or 3 weeks ago. Definitely the new bootrom, and definitely not able to be jailbroken since it's sitting at official 3.1.3
BTW, from what I have read, the MC model number doesn't mean anything in the 3G[S] world, only the 8GB iPod Touch "2G"
