03-07-2010, 01:07 PM #42Yes, I have the newer bootrom and it worked for me.guyz -- can u CONFIRM if it worked for u on the newer bootrom ???
@nwriko - I mentioned in my earlier post that wi-fi was not working for me immediately after the phone actually booted using Blackra1n. Since then, I did reboot (no network reset...just power off/power on) and Blackra1n was able to boot the phone normally on the first try...no loop of death.HOWEVER, i'm presently Bricked again!! i did it in exactly same way as before. i did a network reset because wifi wasn't working and once it rebooted i hoped that blackra1n would start working properly again... not so easy...and now i'm on my 20th reboot on xp but i have no regrets since i need wifi way too much to stay without. in case i'll get out of this new loop in the next few days, does anyone here know of another way to resolve the wifi problem aside from resetting network settings?
Perhaps the network reset is part of the problem? I wish I knew what was actually going on here...
@Naly - As Mark1832 mentioned, the key is to kill the ituneshelper.exe process using task manager. If you leave that service running, it will detect your iphone when it reboots, fire up iTunes and prevent Blackra1n from attempting to try to boot the phone again.For some reason, after I run blackra1n for the first time and dont click the Ok Buttong and then the phone automatically reboots and comes back up - then itunes opens up and for some reason blackra1n doesnt run automatically again. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.

i can also confirm that it worked for me.... TWICE!!! jut now my iPhone is alive again.. still no wifi
bcs40 i actually had forgotten about what you had written on wifi...i was too concentrated on trying to find a way to resuscitate my iPhone but i was also convinced that what might have caused the loop was the fact that i had inserted a screen lock just before doing the network reset.. and so before rebooting i got rid of that and of the passcode lock just in case..at least now i know it wasn't that.
i'll wait a few hours before powering off/on as you suggested since i'm now going to sleep..
thanks again bcs40 for the good advice.
to eveyone else who is in the loop i can confirm that with some patience and some luck it eventually works. which clearly disproves the definition of insanity attributed to einstein: " doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result"
ciao

Thanks for the great info. I have the exact same iphone (same specs and working with Windows XP - SP3), was stuck in blackra1n loop and managed to exit loop with your directions. I am now in safemode! If you find a solution to go to normal mode without getting stuck in the loop againg please let me know .... I really miss my WIFI !!!

@Artlss
The second time mine also came back in safe mode. Just restart spring board which is one of the options and you'll be fine (at least I was)
ok i can now confirm that wifi can be fixed with a mere power on/off WITHOUT doing a network reset and at power on blackra1n ran smoothly at first go like in the good old days.
network reset has definitely been the root cause of the killer loop and now it is no longer even needed.
Thank you again bcs40!!
i just put my 2G back in the safe.. everything back to normal. i'll still keep an eye on this board to see if anything else comes up.
@naly have you fixed yours?
user Nsolis on another thread suggests that the killer loop seems to be caused by running network reset WHILST having a lock on the SIM. he argues that without the lock no killer loop takes place... anyone here willing to try?Last edited by nwriko; 03-08-2010 at 01:10 AM. you are very welcome.. i'm glad i could help i can completely understand your feeling about not wanting to power off.. but i can tell you that i have already done it twice today and absolutely no problems. having said that i'm also a little worried about trying to do a network restore without the SIM lock (pin code) but that is because at the moment i have nothing to gain from trying, on the other hand staying without wifi wasn't acceptable for me

OMG I am still in the looop! I tried the above suggestion by bcs40 ALL Day yesterday and the nothing happened. All i got were alot of the popups from blackra1n running for like 5 hours yesterday. I am not running Blackra1n as an admin. since I dont know my admin password --- do you think thats holding the looop still???

ok i dont know if this is the same problem as everyone else but, I just jail broke my iPhone 3Gs and went through all the steps and everything is fine but every time my phone would have to reboot or i would turn my phone off and turn it back on it tells me to connect my phone to iTunes. I am not able to get to my main screen. I would have to use the blackra1n jail break and go through all the steps to get to the main iPhone screen to use my phone, any ideas on how to fix this?

You have a tethered JB - there is no fix.

naly
here are your alternatives:
1. you do it on someoneelse's pc
2. you do it on your pc but have to first find ad password if you chose the 2nd then you first have to make sure you actually have a password since (don't ask me why) but i have a hunch there isn't one and your pc at the moment doesn't reccognize it.. in order to make sure you have to access your pc in administrator mode. in xp tha tis doable only in safe mode. can u do that? one way is to reboot and press F8 multiple times on start up. then u get a screen which asks u how you want to boot in and u chose safe mode. once you get to the login screen you should have the administrator option... try to log in without a password.. tell me what happens. by the way if u get in you will probably not be able to run blackra1n in safe mode but that is not the problem right now... tell me if u can log in as adminiistrator

thanks for the help!

@midmia you are wrlcome
@naly if u find the password and it works then u have solved the problem. But please know that sometimes if you have never signed in as administrator xp doesn't reccognize the password. and the only way to sign in as administrator in xp is via safe mode. if as it often happens you sign in leaving password blank then when you reboot in normal mode and try to run bkackra1n in administrator mode by right clicking xp will then reccognize the empty space as the password
