iPhone 3G Firmware 2.2 upgrade to 3.1.2???

hey guys, i just got a 3g that has 2.2 on it. my question is, how do i upgrade to 3.1.2? i know i need a custom ISPW right? where do i find that at? and do i need to jailbreak after i SHIFT+RESTORE? i'm really new to this stuff. i've only had a 2g for about a month i had 3.1.2 firmware through itunes and used blackra1n on that. i don't think so... i have att. just not an iphone contract...

i'd like to unlock it just incase i switch to t-mobile or sell it. if it's not too much trouble.

if u have a 3g go to google and downlaod a custom 3.1.2 ipsw, then shift restore to that.

i downloaded and jailbroke the 3g on firmware 3.1.2. however, I keep getting a message when i try and open up internet that i need to activate cellular data. I don't want ATT to know i have an iphone. I thought that's what jailbreaking and unlocking did. Is there anyway around this? Thanks
