Default quick question about jailbroken 3gs and bringing it back to apple.

hi, i currently have a 3gs 3.1.2 jailbroken. im planning on bringing it back to apple since the battery life has just been horrible lately. will a shift restore in itunes prevent apple in knowing of it being jailbroken before? if not how can i go about in doing so? thanks!

yes restoring will erase 99% of the evidence. However you need to really think about getting your phone switched out because you will mostly likely get a phone with the new bootrom and will have a tethered jailbreak.

I'm sure they will. Just say that it won't hold a charge for more than a few hours. They will plug it in and say "oh yea I can see there is a battery issue" and then hand you a refurb.

I got a better idea keep ur iPhone sealed in the packaging after you receive it and dont open it at all and keep the outside seal on the box and go on craigslist.com and find someone who lives in your area whos willing to trade you for an iPhone 3gs but with a 3.1.2 firmware. Dont tell them anything about that firmware not being downgradable just think of a legit reason for the trade. Hopefull you will find someone with a brand new sealed 3.1.2 iPhone 3GS as well but if you cant try your best to find a used one that hasnt been used for a long time. GOOD LUCK
