3Gs getting stuck in recovery mode after blackra1n, weird ??
Hey guys,
I recently got a 3Gs and (3.1.2) and used blackra1n to jailbreak. The jailbreak went fine, and Cydia loaded perfectly. However, If i power off my phone it gets stuck in recovery mode when rebooting and asks to hook up to iTunes. Of course, iTunes tells me that I need to recover my phone and my SHSH file is not yet backed up to Cydia (Says pending TSS request at the top) - so I cant restore using older 3.1.2 firmware.
If I plug the phone up (while still locked up in recovery mode) and click "Make it rain" again the phone will show the jailbreak screen and loads my phone right up perfectly. All settings are maintained and all apps are there (iTunes will even recognize the phone and let it sync properly). But if my phone dies while I am out or dont have a computer with me then my phone will be locked until I can re-run the jailbreak to get it out of recovery mode and booted back up.
So - has anyone else had this problem where a 3Gs phone gets stuck in the boot process after jail-breaking with Blackra1n?
Thanks guys, look forward to being part of the community.

You have phone with the new bootloader, which requires a tethered jailbreak. Any time you reboot, battery runs out, etc., you must run blackra1n.

you just have to run blackra1n to boot your phone (tethered)

Yea pretty much. Its the scariest part of the tethered jailbreak. You have to rely on having a computer around with blackra1n.

I know how u feel bro. This sucks ***. Question: what if i carry a usb stick around with blackra1n? Will that work out?
I wish we could downgrade the firmware to 3.0.

I agree with carrying around a usb jumb drive with you. That way you could plug into any computer to reboot your phone

Anyone know if there are any jailbreak's/updates that are working to fix this problem? It doesn't seem like that big of a deal, but I know the one time my phone locks or battery dies I will not have a computer around to load it back up

Or are there any other work arounds in development?

There is suposedely a jailbreak in the hands of the dev. Bu they will not release it until 4.0 to stop apple patching the code. This is only hear say but seems reasonable to me.

It should be due with the new iPhone 4g (3gsi?) usually around June time but there has been rumours it may come early.

From what I have read, at&t is upgrading their current 3G network to support HSPA 7.2... which will be finished by the end of 2011 to 90% of their current 3G locations. Why would there be a 4G phone in June when sprint is the only Network that actually supports this technology as of right now?
Either way it sucks for us tethered jailbreaks who risk not having a working phone everyday if it locks up.

Because they seem to release a new phone every year. It may be the 5g that runs HSPA 7.2 which would be in line for release 2011. Obviously I don't know for sure but if you look back at the previous releases apple seem to bring a new phone out every year. Yes it does suck and I am in the same boat as you and unfortunately there is nothing we can do about it.
