can someone give me a step-by-step guide?.. needed badly
can someone help me through this matter:
1. my iphone 3g can't detect wi-fi while am downloading.
2. i went ot MAC center to inititially diagnose my iphone.. they said that the problem probably is software due to the iphoen has IP address but can'detect wi-fi signals
3. the technician recommended me to restore my iphone then jailbreak
my questions are:
1. what is the best jailbreak app? and a thorough guide please. am using Vista Home Edition in my laptop
2. can i update to OS 3.1 using itunes? what would be the expected outcome during and after update?..
thank you.

The tech told you to restore and re jailbreak?!? Where the hell is that apple store lol
you need to update to 3.1.2 and use blackra1n...
Just google "unlock 3g blackra1n" you'll find dozens of guidesThe only thing I ask in return for helping, is that you click the thanks button, Thanks!

am using firmware a lower version than 3.1.2
is it necessary to restore it first to check for the wifi issue then update it to 3.1.2?
thank you.

A restore will update you to 3.1.2 at the same time which should fix your WIFI issues. Then use blackra1n to jailbreak.
@cpthk - pwnage tool is Mac only. If you read his post he is a Vista user.

i have read from
Jailbreak and Unlock iPhone 3.1.2 Firmware on Windows | Redmond Pie
which features PwnageTool 3.1.4 for windows.
does iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore is the same as: iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw
i guess i have to stick to blackra1n because Pwnage seems to be complicated for me.
thanks.

Regardless of what that guide says. Pwnage Tool is Mac only. Pwnage Tool builds the jailbreak into a "custom" firmware. Things can get complicated with activation though so best to restore to the stock firmware... activate with iTunes.. then jailbreak with blackra1n.
