Jailbreak help

Hi everyone, new around here, also new to the iphone.
I received my 3gs yesterday and set about trying to jailbreak. I used both pwnage and blackra1n. I'm also using a mac. The jailbreak goes fine, up until the point where my phone wants to restore, for some reason I just cannot restore with the jailbreak programs. When using blackra1n I get the guy with the hair surrounded by iphones screen pop up on my phone, but it never boots properly, instead my iphone goes straight back to the cable and itunes sync screen. Anyone know what the problem may be? I have all the latest firmware etc, please help. Thanks

You have a 3gs with the new iBoot, which means your jailbreak is tethered.

You'll need to connect your phone to your computer and run blackra1n every time you want to restart/reboot/turn on your phone.

Simply run blackra1n when you see the 'Connect to iTunes'-logo.
