Default HELP! - 3gs Error 23 Emergency calls only, wipeout all data??

    Hi guys!

Basically, I am screwed, It's combination of luck and stupid mistakes. I have researched about this issue where I get the error 23 while trying to restore because my phone suddenly lost connection and asked to be restored and would only go to emergency call screen. I am pretty sure it is hardware related and if only it wasnt so obvious that I jail broke my phone, Apple store will probably replace it. But No, I have my lock calendar showing on the usb-itunes lock screen. and my personal photo background on the emergency call screen. I know and it seems like there is no way out of it, I am stuck with a useless $800 phone and 2 year agreement plan, which by the way, I just got this phone not even a month ago...

FYI, i tried DFU, pwnagetool, ziphone, blackrain, redsnow, etc. nothing worked.

My question is, Is there any way at all to wipe out and erase all data in it just so that nothing will show on my phone? and I can at least try to take it to apple store and have it replaced?

Any idea at all anyone?? please??
I will truly appreciate any help anyone can give, please??

    Thanks.

First thing to note is that American Apple Stores will only service you if you're a verified AT&T iPhone customer, which does NOT include regular AT&T customers. You *might* be able to get away with shipping to Apple if there is still warranty on the device, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't service you.

Can you elaborate more on the "stupid mistakes" you claimed to have made?

Well, Yes I am an AT&T iphone customer, and just got it around a month ago. The stupid mistake was jailbreaking it when I dont have a slight idea of what it really does to my phone and its warranty. When all I reall wanted was to have a calendar on my lock screen and wallpaper inside the springboard.

I called Apple and reported the error 23, they intructed me to take it to apple store and set me an apointment, so before then, do you have any suggestion how I can access the phone from a windows cmd or any gui type software and manually erase my personal info?

    Thanks.

I've heard that the folks at the Genius Bar can detect whether an iPhone has ever been jailbroken or not, but I can't confirm the validity of that. If that's not the case, I believe even attempting a full restore deletes all data from the device. It won't do a 3-pass wipe like the Secure Erase feature in iPhoneOS does, but it should be good enough unless they go that deep.

    Can anyone else advise?
