Default Unable to Restore phone - unable to use iPhone

Yesterday my phone shut itself off, restarted with the apple logo and then to when it ot past the logo, it shut itself off again. turning my phone back on would produce the same issue. Eventually I tried running redsn0w again, but when redsn0w got past the DFU screen and claimed it was jailbreaking my phone, it hung at the point where it said it was rebooting and never gave me the next screen.

I would love to restore my iPhone and just upgrade to the newest firmware and use BlackRain for my next Jailbreak but I am getting error 13. I have tried this on several machines and on my computer creating a new user profile. Currently I have a brick for a phone and I would love to be up and running again.

I had used redsnOw for my last jailbreak and it's been working fine on version 3.0.1 on my 3G phone.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    1) Restore a clean stock 3.0.1 firmware for your iPhone 3G in iTunes from Apple here in Recovery mode. Since you are currently running 3.0.1, you shouldn't need to go into DFU mode. Use Shift+Restore in iTunes to select and restore your firmware.
    How to Enter Recovery Mode:

    a) Turn the device completely off and disconnect it from cable/dock.

    b) Hold down the home button.

    c) While holding down the home button, connect to a computer with a USB cable (easiest) or dock.

    d) Keep holding down the home button until you see a connect-to-iTunes screen. You are now in recovery mode.
    2) Set up your iPhone 3G as a new phone. Do not restore from backup.

    3) In order to jailbreak firmware 3.0.1 using RedSn0w, you will need to download firmware 3.0 for your iPhone 3G from here.

    4) Since you are running Vista, Run redsn0w.exe in compatibility mode (Windows XP Service Pack 2). This and running Redsn0w as "administrator" should eliminate most problems with Vista.

    5) When Redsn0w asks you for the firmware to jailbreak 3.0.1, make sure you select firmware 3.0 or it will fail.

    6) Follow the rest of the instructions in RedSn0w.

Post back your results. Good luck.

Using shift restore did the trick and I have restored my phone. Thank you so much. I have jailbroken my phone over a dozen times but this had me a bit nervous.
