    Default HELP!! blackra1n 12times a day!

hey all, i have a 3gs version 3.1.2 and jailbroke using blackra1n rc3. everything seems to work fine, as far as apps being downloaded and service with wifi working properly. however i have a huge problem, that is everytime i turn the phone off and back on or have an auto restart after a certain apps being installed, the phone won't turn back on properly. instead it will stay recovery mode like the picture of usb cable and itune icon will show and stays that way. the only way to remove that is jailbreak again using blackra1n. did i do anything wrong?

No, you probably have the new iBoot which causes your JB to be a tethered jailbreak thus needing to run Blackra1n every time you reboot.

No, a tethered jailbreak is the only option until someone can figure out a permanent jailbreak for the new iBoot.
    Apples taste good.

Make sure you don't run out of power - carry an add-on battery pack or a travel charger.

If you're going to add apps that requires reboot, do it at home on your computer.

This is all just temporary. The iPod touch 2G required tethered boot, once upon a time. Within a few months, someone found a better way and the rest is history.
And it will be like a taco inside a taco within a Taco Bell that's inside a KFC that's within a mall that's inside your dream! Springboard screwy after reboot? Here is the fix

Check your iBoot version - if it's 353.3 you're ok, if it's 353.32 you've got the new version and need a tethered JB.

To check, enter DFU mode and go to Device Manager > USB Controllers > Apple Mobile Device USB Driver > Details and choose Device Instance Path as the property. The iBoot version will be at the very end of the string. I don't know the procedure for Mac I'm afraid.

I think this is an easier way to check if you'll need tethered boot... this is obviously for iPhone 3GS running on firmware 3.1.2.

Go to Settings -> General -> About ->
Check your serial number..the 4th & 5th digits are the week of manufacture of your device. If its below 40 then you'll not need tethered boot every time you restart your device. But the week of manufacture is 40 & above then currently there is no way around the tethered boot

Not necessarily – as per this thread some week 41 devices have the older iBoot version.
