iphone glitches only when 1 person tries to call me

i first noticed when my girlfriend calls me or texts me, it willl not show her name, just her number. i have tried to delete her name and reenter it and that didnt work. then i deleted her contact info, told her to call me, the add her to contacts and that didnt work.

now, when she calls me, my phone does not ring. my screen just turns off, goes off turns on, and goes off again, then i have a missed call icon, and most of the time it goes into safe mode.
when i try to call her, i do not get the call menu (contacts, speaker, hold etc) I just get the bar at the top that says tap to return to call, but nothing happens when i push it,and if she does not answer i have to turn my phone off to end the call.

Had the same problem on my 3GS. Incoming calls from only one number in particular would crash my springboard, cause the phone to go into safe mode and completely throw off the alignment of icons on it (annoying as hell to set back up when running an inav theme). Making an outgoing call to the number would have the same effect you described. Hasn’t happened again since I upgraded FW to 3.1.2 and used setup as new phone as opposed to restore from backup. Still have no idea what was causing it tho.

should i upgrade to 3.1? am i gonna lose anything if i do?
could it be a problem with my sim card?
