Searching... No Service after blacksn0w

I have an iPhone 3G and I used blackra1n to jailbreak and install sn0w. As soon as it installs, the phone starts searching for a carrier and in a couple of mins it says no service. When I manually check the carrier from settings, it says searching and sometimes I see my carrier list and sometimes it says unable to load carrier list. but even when I select the correct carrier from the list, it continues to say searching and then no service.

I reset the phone network settings, reset the phone settings, restored the phone to fresh 3.1.2 twice and still no luck.

The sim works great on my other iPhone 2g.

If TMOBILE then turning off the 3G should work.

I'm actually in the UAE and using Etisalat carrier, it supports 3G. It has not been a problem with other iphones here. it's just this one.

Besides I tried it with the 3G off.

Could it be a hardware issue?
The wifi works great.

Your phone probably doesn't have the carrierbundle for your service provider. Go to help.BenM.at – Mobileconfigs and Tethering for your iPhone | BenM.at and generate a mobileconfig with your carriers settings.

UPDATE: Disregard that, I found the carrierbundle in /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/ so there is one in there. This is an odd one. I doubt its a hardware issue if it worked before.

thanks! I'll still give it a go and see if it works. I'll post my findings here. it used to work fine on ultrasn0w before i upgraded it to 3.1.2.

Update: Nope, didn't work, nothing to do with the carrier bundle. Any other solution?

I am having the same issue with my 3g. after running blackra1n and installing cydia and snow it goes from "Searching" to "No Service." I believe it is recognizing my SIM as my phone number shows up in the settings. I have Tmobile and the 3g IS off. I originally tried it with OS 3.1.2 and had no luck. I tried downgrading to 3.1 but still no luck.

try removing the sim and place in another phone allow it to register. load up blah blah...then remove sim and place back in to iphone...works 4 me....CHA'MOAN

Tried it but same story. It works great on my other iPhone 2G and Nokia.

I am in the same boat! i have iphone 3G with 16G.
tried everything you mentioned above and still "no service"

I tried searching over the net for solutions and found that a few people are in the same siutation. Waiting for help over here!

same problem here. US AT&T 3G iPhone, clean install 3.1.2 -> blackra1n -> blacksn0w, trying 02 Deutschland SIM w/3G and getting "no service". many hours reading, frustrated.

Any of you tried official restore through iTunes, then shift-restore to a PwnageTool made custom firmware and then installing blacksn0w through Cydia?

Hi, I have the same problem with iphone 3g 16gb. After Jailbreak with blackra1n and unlock with snow I'm getting "no service". I test the unlock on an other iphone and it worked without any problems...
I also restored my phone to the official firmware and tried to unlock the phone several times... I switched on and off the airplane mode. Reset all settings ... without any success. I also test the offline blacksn0w hack http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/11/u...ut-wifi-cydia/... But still having "no service" :-(

Do you have any ideas ???

I also have an US AT&T iPhone 3g 16gb jailbreaked with blackra1n - and try to use a german o2 sim. But I'm getting no service.
Maybe its exactly this combination thats causing the problem???
Did anybody know what we can do?

I also tried to restore the phone to ofiicial 3.1.2 and afterwars used quickpwn and load snow from cydia - same like the blackra1n solution

Let me be the first to say try uninstalling the application manager ********** if you have the installed and that should solve your problem.

I don't have the App installer ******* :-(
yesterday it was realy strange! I have been to a german shoppingcenter with my iphone in the pocket - and suddenly I got full signal!! I was really suprised and thought that the problem is solved. But than I walked a few meters - and boom - no service :-( I went back -> full signal. So I think its just a week signal. I searched the net again and saw a lot of users that had the same issue. But at the moment I couldn't see a solution.

Looks like its unlock but it has a very very very low signal.

Yeah I believe I have the same exact problem...iPhone 16gb 3g w/5.11 baseband and 3.1.2 firmware...used the blackra1n/sn0w method about 6 or 7 times each time restoring with iTunes...all i get is "searching..." for a long time then followed by a no service...but the iPhone sees the my network information (T-Mobile)...and my cell number off of the sim.

If someone knows of a fix or new unlocking method later than blacksn0w please post...
