Hello all..

Just used blackrain to jailbreak/unlock iphone 3gs

everything seems to be working fine (tmobile sim works !! )

but the only problem is that I can't seem to connect to youtube

I have verified that the clock is set correctly... I have searched the web but I can't seem to find any current information about this one.

Current consensus is this is a bug with geohot's "hacktivation"

If you can legitimately activate the phone, do so; should fix your issues.

Other option is to use the Dev Team's hacktivation/jb, then install blacksn0w via cydia for the unlock.

That's not much fun for people, who already went through upgrade, installed apps etc. Would blacksn0w help if just installed after using blackra1n? And on 2G iPhone.

If you're on a 2G iPhone blacksn0w wont do anything for you. Just use the dev team tools to jailbreak/unlock (boot neuter) and everything will work just fine!

Doesn't this fix cause erroneous push notifications?
"If you're on a 2G iPhone blacksn0w wont do anything for you. Just use the dev team tools to jailbreak/unlock (boot neuter) and everything will work just fine!"

How am I supposed to do that for 2G, when there's no tool available for 3.1.2?

It's for the baseband not the firmware. It will work. The baseband dosn't get upgraded on the 2g.

Where is blacksn0w in Cydia... ?

Edit: Nevermind.

blacksn0w is also available on Cydia, add blackra1n.com as repo
requires firmware >= 3.1 and baseband 05.11.07

Blackra1n works fine to jailbreak your 2g. Then you can install bootneuter via cydia.

Dev-team only has releases for Mac OS. That aspect needs to be specified.

The Youtube issue, it could very well be an data service problem. If not, something didn't go quite right with the jailbreak. More detail is necessary to distinguish what the issue is.

But my 2G was neutered already; how would BootNeuter help here?

UPD: Okay, I installed BootNeuter and ran it and it didn't change anything.

Sorry, forgot you were having youtube issues; thought you wanted an unlock ;-)

Don't have a solution for you, though you could try replacing your lockdownd file, or borrowing someone's at&t sim to "legit" activate your phone.
