Question How to do a clean restore???

I'd like to do a clean installation. But I am not sure what the differences are between the following options.

    1) I read that for security reasons it is best to erase all data first (by clicking on reset all settings on your device, I think???) and then to do a DFU installation (with a cs fw???).

    2) I reckon I can also use a custom fw (3.1.2), and do a shift-restore, WITHOUT the need going into DFU-mode first, and finally click on "restore to factory settings".

    3) Or can I also wait for blackra1n RC3 (to be released in a few hours!!!), and JB with that? In other words, does blackrain clean up my device?

Could someone please share his/her opinion (tips) for which format method is the best?

    Cheers

Doing a restore in iTunes will do as you say, a clean restore. No need to reset or erase prior too.
Yes, blackra1n will be released in a couple hours. SO you can do a hold shift, click restore to the newest (3.1.2) firmware and the run blackra1n.
