Bought my 3Gs months ago. Have been sitting on the sidelines thinking about jailbreaking and finally decided to do it to get slingplayer to work on 3G (not just WiFi).

Anyway, I up'd to 3.01 when it came out, but held off on 3.1 and 3.12 because of all the coma mode stuff I heard.

Not sure if I feel comfortable yet with 3.12, so I was wondering if I could just run the new BlackRa1n and jailbreak my 3.01?

Or do I need to go to 3.12 first? Or just jailbreak now, if I can?

I probably will never need to unlock. I'm in Canada under Rogers. But Canada is about to get 2 more cell companies to compete and sell the iphone. So there is always a chance. If I do need or should update to 3.12 first, is there anything I should do to make sure all my options are open? A couple of months back I captured my iBBSS and iBEC. But I also heard about registering something with cydia. Is that still possible? Should I bother?
