Weirdness with Carrier Logo Fixer - can anyone explain?
Hello,
I bought what I was told is an AT&T 8GB 3G. It's on 3.1.2 but with the baseband preserved at 04.26.08 for ultrasn0w. So far so good.
Like many I had the 'no carrier logo' problem (no logo alongside the cellular signal strength bars) which I understand is a known issue with Pwnage tool 3.1.x. Not an issue though, install Carrier Logo Fixer from Cydia - that sorted out a friend's 3G on O2 UK just fine.
Thing is on the AT&T handset after installing Carrier Logo Fixer I get 'Mobistar' showing up despite having a T-Mobile SIM installed! Yes, I could just install Make It Mine [or similar] and manually key in the carrier name, or I guess this 3G may be from Mobistar (do they even carry the iPhone?)...but it's odd.
I thought the carrier logo information would be derived from the connected cell network [and would change when roaming for example] - not from handset itself so how come my 3G is showing 'Mobistar' when connected to T-Mobile? We don't even HAVE Mobistar here in the UK! :-)
Hardly a huge issue, I'd just like to get to the bottom of it if possible.
Thanks in advance,
Steve
