jail break vs unlock whats the differance
ok i am having a hard time understanding what the differences are
unlock to me means unlock the sim so you can use another cellular provider
jail break means able to update apps and items in the phone
now if this is the case then i see the tutorial to jail braks the phone now onces its jail brake you can unlock it correct.
just starting out and been reading trying to figure it all out.

Yes, you got it. Jailbreak allows for themeing, customization and file access and unlock allows you to use with another carrier besides AT&T.

Once a phone is jailbroken, I assume you can then transfer to the iphone and use apps that are NOT downloaded from the appstore and transferred to the iphone using itunes.
If so, what program do you use to transfer those programs (with an .ipa extension) from a windows os to your iphone so they show up and run?

^Yep, no cracked app support on here. Search elsewhere if you wanna join the dark side.
Note: With most jailbreaks comes a handy app called Cydia. Cydia has many free(and pay for) utilities and games that the AppStore doesn't.
