this DOES work... my phone locked up, and had to be updated and restored today (still had 3.0), so i was rather upset. took a few tries to get this to work, and was about to give up, and face appeared!

using windows 7, i AM using a local administrators account, but i did have the phone in airplane mode...

After numerous tries here is what I did based on SuperShags directions:

From this point
blackra1n will say "waiting on phone"

"Press and hold the power and home button on your iPhone

At this point I just powered up the iphone and let it go through normal startup. (I might of held down the home button here...)

Once it has started up, blackra1n continued to "recovery mode" which rebooted the iphone again.

During the reboot, make sure your holding down the home button until blackra1n status changes to "running". You can now release the home button and Geo screen should display.

From here, let blackra1n finish and you should be good to go.

This is what I could remember after trying to JB about 50 times. Hope this helps others out.

Guys i had the issue with it going straight to recovery.


DO THIS!

pretend like your doing redsnow or quickpwn...

Hold power for 3 seconds
right when it turns on hold both power and middle button
then the apple logo will pop up twice
then let go of power
recovery goes back on but after like 10 seconds geohot comes on










but it still doesnt work. when geohot comes on and it does its jailbreak orw hatever it still stays in recovery mode

mine did not show the apple logo 2wice it just showed it once and then it goes straight for the recovery

For the 3G on 3.1.2, and blackra1n. Do this, IT WORKS !!!
Connect iPhone to PC, and power off. Hit power button to power back on.
As soon as you see the Apple, hit "make it ra1n". And watch the magic.
I've done this to jailbreak 7 3G iPhones.
Works Perfect .....

I have aquired a 3G with official 3.1.2, which means the baseband is updated. I understand that I will not be able to sim unlock. But other than JBing it with blackra1n, I still can't do anything. After it reset finally from seeing the geohot picture, it just goes back to the emergency call screen. I was thinking that I'd at least be able to get into the device to install cydia or something. Is there something I can do to get past that? The phone was never JBed before and I do not have a AT&T sim to put in it. I have a T-mobile sim.

I am going nuts on this blackra1n thing. I have tried like at least 100 times now....read all kinds of ways to make it runs. Even gone out to buy new usb cord.....I can't seem to do it.

Constantly reading...... I have tried every trick I think that has been posted on the internet. First off THANK YOU SUPERSHAG. Secondly I am running win7 I have a 3g 8gig on 3.1.2. This was the missing link in everything that I had tried. If your having problems please don't give up. Keep reading and keep trying. Make sure you turn off the Bonjour services under task manager, then under services tab. right click and stop. Once again thanks to all that posted for now my eyes can rest. I have successfully JBed my IPhone.

i figured it out..


ATTENTION EVERYBODY!. EVERYONE WITH 3G IPHONE!. THIS IS SO F**KING SIMPLE.

Look. all you need to do, ALL you need to do.

restore your phone back to normal how you normally had it.


so onto the process

Plug in your phone
open black rain
click make it rain

LEAVE IT, DONT DO ANY THING, DONT PUSH ANY BUTTONS. it will go to restore mode then itll go to geohot AUTOMATICALLY. THERE IS NO NEED TO PUSH ANY BUTTONS. I spend 4 hours pushing buttons until today my brother was like yo i jailbroke my iphone and he told me he used blackrain then he said all you need to do is just plug it in and click make it rain.

Yeah blackra1n RC2 is out, so download it and all the problems should have been fixed (I haven't tried it yet).

I finally found my fix, I tried all of the troubleshooting on this whole thread and nothing worked.

A while back I had this issue with the iPhone connecting and disconnecting by itself repeatedly. I had this problem fixed by disabling the USB2 enhanced host controller in device manager.

I simply re-enabled it and Blackra1n worked just as intended, make it rain, and it worked.
