How to jailbreak iPhone 3G 3.1.2 using blackra1n

Did you try turning Bonjour services off? Also make sure that you are NOT running as administrator or in compatibility mode. This is for the 3G, blackra1n works just fine for 3GS.

Constantly reading...... I have tried every trick I think that has been posted on the internet. First off THANK YOU SUPERSHAG. Secondly I am running win7 I have a 3g 8gig on 3.1.2. This was the missing link in everything that I had tried. If your having problems please don't give up. Keep reading and keep trying. Make sure you turn off the Bonjour services under task manager, then under services tab. right click and stop. Once again thanks to all that posted for now my eyes can rest. I have successfully JBed my IPhone.

i figured it out..


ATTENTION EVERYBODY!. EVERYONE WITH 3G IPHONE!. THIS IS SO F**KING SIMPLE.

Look. all you need to do, ALL you need to do.

restore your phone back to normal how you normally had it.


so onto the process

Plug in your phone
open black rain
click make it rain

LEAVE IT, DONT DO ANY THING, DONT PUSH ANY BUTTONS. it will go to restore mode then itll go to geohot AUTOMATICALLY. THERE IS NO NEED TO PUSH ANY BUTTONS. I spend 4 hours pushing buttons until today my brother was like yo i jailbroke my iphone and he told me he used blackrain then he said all you need to do is just plug it in and click make it rain.

Yeah blackra1n RC2 is out, so download it and all the problems should have been fixed (I haven't tried it yet).

I finally found my fix, I tried all of the troubleshooting on this whole thread and nothing worked.

A while back I had this issue with the iPhone connecting and disconnecting by itself repeatedly. I had this problem fixed by disabling the USB2 enhanced host controller in device manager.

I simply re-enabled it and Blackra1n worked just as intended, make it rain, and it worked.

I too have the problem myself and found out that apple has released a new bootrom to make the new iphone 3GS jailbreak resistant
heres a link to the explanation.

I did manage to jailbreak it but once i reboot the iphone it comes up to recovery mode and needed a fresh restore from itunes.

hopefully dev team comes up with something to get around the new bootrom

How long did you have to wait? I'm using blackra1n 2.0 and I've been waiting 10 mins and I'm still stuck in recovery mode(iTunes/USB screen).

P.S. Im on win 7 x64. Make sure you read the steps about 5 times so you know what you're doing then do it not read and do it at the same time. if you're too slow, it wont work just like in quickpwn and redsn0w.

ok so i've seen a lot of posts about people being stuck on running or entering recovery when using blackra1n with the 3g, so i decided to post how i do it. I jailbreak a lot of iphones for my co-workers and friends. So far i have used this process to jailbreak over 20 3g iphones in the last week. So here it is step-by-step.

Make sure itunes is not set to open automatically when your iphone is connected.

Make sure your iphone is connected to your computer and close itunes.

Open blackra1n.
Note: Do not run as administrator or run in compatibility mode.

Click make it rain, your phone will get stuck in recovery and blackra1n will say "running"

press and hold the power and home buttons together.

Release both buttons as soon as your iphone screen goes black.

Blackra1n will say the jailbreak is done, but it isn't, close blackra1n

open blackra1n and click make it rain

blackra1n will say "waiting on phone"

press and hold the power and home button on your iphone.

The apple logo will appear, keep holding the buttons, the screen will go black and then the apple logo will appear again.

When the apple logo appears the second time, release the power button but continue to hold the home button.

Your phone will finish restarting, but geohot will appear.

Release the home button and wait for blackra1n to do it's thing.

I did what you said up until the holding of the on/off button and the home button down together. My finger slipped off the on/off button during this provess and now my phone won't do anything. It won't turn on ect... The blackrain program is stuck on the screen that says waiting for device... Please tell me what i should do.

I finally got mine to work! 3 day's of headaches.. Every step I found did not work with my iPhone 3g, until a few mins. ago.

What I did:

I open two blackra1n's

click the first make it rain

Hold POWER and HOME when the screen go's black like most people mention

Once you see APPLE LOGO let go of POWER but keep hold HOME until you see the itunes restore.. Just like people mention on here..

So if you're getting stuck on RESTORE MODE this is what I did and probably don't have to worry about the other steps.

When it get's stuck here on RESTORE MODE (with itunes and usb logo). Unplug your iphone and plug it back in.

Now click the other MAKE IT RAIN button and geohot should pop up after a few seconds on the screen.. Hope this works for others, this wasn't an easy jailbreak!!!!!

What wifi problems are you having? I myself haven't had any wifi problems, yet.. Did you try what the guy said in the vid?
