    Default Signal Dropping Issue

Ever since I got a 3GS and jailbroke it, I seem to be having this issue. Basically most of the times I wake my phone with the sleep/wake button, the wireless and wi-fi signals drop, and it has to search again to reacquire the signal. I usually have to wait a minute or more before I can start texting or doing anything online. It freezes when the signal first drops, and then unfreezes as the phone moves to reacquire the signal.

I read somewhere that I have to set up as a new phone. Now when I did this, I lost my contacts and crucial information like that. How do I keep that information? Would setting up as a new phone even help? I can't be sure if it helped. I needed my contacts back so I reset to a backup with my contacts still on it, but it is still jailbroken 3.1.2.

    *Bump*

Any help? I don't want to reinstall my stuff and then have to restore again, but I want my themes and settings back, so I gotta fix this before I can reinstall stuff.

iTunes backs up everything on your phone when you sync, so as long as you've synced your phone all of the information is there, restore then jailbreak again but this time set up as new phone, then go through each of the tabs at the top and you can select exactly what you want to sync to your phone, iTunes will sync your contacts with your Windows contacts so all you have to do is tell it to sync with Windows contacts and you will have them all back. So even when you set up as new iPhone, you shouldn't lose anything.

I don't actually have any windows contacts. Are they the same as my iPhone contacts?

Would setting up as a new phone fix this issue?

Yes, your iTunes will sync your iPhone contacts into your Windows contacts, that's how it backs it up. As for whether it will fix the problem or not, I cannot say for sure, but what I would recommend is restore the iPhone, then jailbreak it again, then setup as new iPhone.

I told it to sync with Windows Contacts, but these are not my iPhone contacts. The only entry I get is my windows username. What's up with that?

Ok the question is, have you restored yet? If you restored the phone and then synced with Windows contacts and only got your username, then that means you haven't synced your iPhone before, however if you haven't restored and you told it to sync Windows contacts, and only got your username, then that's normal.

This is from a freshly restored iPhone, and then I told it to set up as new. I've backed it up before. Is there a way to recover my contacts now or do I have to restore a backup again and start over?

Also, I'm restoring to a prejailbroken custom ipsw. Would this cause an issue? People have been saying that it works great. I don't see how that would affect syncing. Should I restore to the default 3.1.2 and then blackrain it?

I have the regular ATT carrier. The main issue is really that it keeps dropping the signal when I'm using the phone. I need to fix this badly.
