Benefits to jailbreak?

I have had my iPhone since 2007 release, and have since upgraded to a 32GB 3GS, and I haven't really played much with jailbreaking. Can you guys give me some insight as to the best reasons I should jailbreak my phone? Any killer functionality that gets added, and what is it?

I installed blacksn0w on my phone, but Cydia just instantly crashes and while I got Rock to work, I can't really find anything that gets me excited. Maybe I don't know what I'm looking for.

Once you upgrade to 3.1 firmware, you can no longer enable tethering. Jailbreaking allows you to install PdaNet so you can tether again.
