I wanna upgrade but, a little help...please

Ok I have a 3Gs Jailbroken On 3.0.1 and I have a 3.0 ECID SHSH on file with Cydia.

I have AT&T and for now I don't think I wanna unlock the phone.

Ah, I use windows but the way, that's why I have not idea what to do now.

More and more applications are being released for 3.1 only, and I have been a good boy and patienly have been waiting putting away the urge of upgrading.

Is there anything I can do? And, PLEASE, is it safe?

why upgrade if you don't have to? you still have the option to go back to 3.0 even if you mess up. just dont update using official Apple firmware.

Just use a custom ipsw made on a Mac if you want to upgrade.
If not, use FWChanger.

And where can i get a custom ipsw made on a Mac? And then, Can I do all the process in windows? How? Whith what program?

I'm sorry, but the more I read about it, the more confused I'm getting.

I just need to know if with my JB 3Gs, on 3.0.1, and with the 3.0 on file in cydia, can I upgrade to 3.1 and have the phone still Jailbroken.
And if I can, can somebody explain the process the simplest way possible , please? Or give me a link where I can follow step by step.
