UPDATE:
Comfirmed working 3.1.2 on 3Gs - Factory unlocked phone

EVERYONE READ THIS BEFORE POSTING A QUESTION!!!!

1. Make sure you have newest verison of iTunes
2. Upgrade using iTunes
3. Download blackra1n from blackra1n.com
4. (after done upgrading) Close iTunes
5. Run blackra1n and click make it ra1n
6. When in recovery mode close iTunes again and blackra1n
7. Open blackra1n again and click make it ra1n again
8. After reboot go into blackra1n on spring board (never restore from backup in itunes)
9. Install Cydia (make sure you have internet)
10. Open Cydia after it closes and confirms it works then do 11
11. Delete blackra1n on springboard (open it and tap uninstall)

For anyone wondering.. no this is NOT an unlock and there is still no progress update on the 5.11.08 baseband.

^^ well this is mostly for people with 3GS with 3.1 firmware from open box! And for ipt 3rd gen users...ur choice if u wanna upgrade or not.

I was running 3.0 3GS and wanted to restore and start fresh cause it was starting to run crappy.

So I went ahead and did custom 3.1, been running great. Ive had no issues from 3.1 at all.

I haven't had any issues with 3.1 and it runs a lot smoother than 3.0 did on my 3G.
It took me an hour to get past the 1600 issues but that was because the JB wasn't public yet and now we know why.. haha.

Understandable if the 3.0 jailbreak starts giving you headaches. It will be nice to have if mine starts acting stupid too. I gotta say that on this 3GS jailbreaking is finally what I have been waiting for...customization with zero lag
