Default SSH created app to jailbroken phone?
    1. I created an app in xcode
    2. Got the .app file in /build/release/appname.app
    3. Dropped it into the Applications folder in my iPhone
    4. Rebooted the phone

The icon shows up on my springboard, clicking the icon quickly brings a blank black screen and returns to the springboard.

    What am I missing here?

xcode-apps are signed, which means you can't just drop them on an iphone. you have to be a registered developer with apple ($99/year) and then register your device as a testing device. then you can compile the app for that device and run it on the device.

You have to have Xcode build it for device/debug and have xcode put it on the device. But you have to make a provisioning profile for it. Maybe find a developer to help you out with making a profile thats signed for your device.
