Don't know what to do now.
I have downloaded both Redsn0w and the Iphone1,2_3.0_7A341.
I go to the step where it tells me to browse and my ccomputer does not show anything such file. I have tried turning off my computer and it still shows an empty folder. Thanks for any help that I might be able to get tonight.

Did the file save as .zip or .ipsw?

XP or Vista. you need to open "My Computer"
XP - go to the top menu and select options > Folder Options
Vista - Top left button that says Organize > Folder and Search Options
In that window you need to click the " VIEW " tab on top.
NEED TO SELECT “SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS "
Then unclick the option to " hide protected operating system files "
Once that's done click "apply" then ok and exit out of the window.

rename/change it form .zip to .ipsw
No need to extract the file.Last edited by blkcadi; 09-26-2009 at 12:01 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

so now when you run redsn0w and it asks for the file are you pointing to it? and then what happens.
Sometimes when you try to extract the file it corrupts it so I would download it again to your desktop and make sure the extension is .ipsw

i have downloaed it again and it does not show up there either. i have not extrated it or touched it in any way. If i go and look for it i can find it and what seems to be a bunch of stuff with it but it will not show up while running Redsn0w.
Iphone1,2 the files kernalcache.release.s518900x, firmware and .fseventsd show 0% nothing in them.

and you chose to download it to your desktop and it's not there?
Then go to this dir
users > "USERNAME" > appdata > roaming > apple computer > iTunes >
and the folder holding the downloaded file will be there.Last edited by blkcadi; 09-26-2009 at 12:46 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Firefox is definitely the way to go.
Safari automatically extracts it for you.I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something
