HOW TO JAILBREAK iPhone 3G 3.1 on windows

still no cydia. do me a favor, what should i search for in google to find the right firmware 3.1? i'm hopeless. I believe I have the right 3.0 firmware but not the 3.1. this is the 3rd times I try ur tutorial.

search thepiratebay.org....im just telling you where too look, not posting a link so hopefully that doesnt break any rules. the ipsw you need has WO_ACT in the title...i tried at least 5 different FW's until finding this one...and it does work 100%. installs cydia and icy, and gives carrier logo and the whole nine.....

but the thing is, I cant sync apps from itunes onto my Iphone anymore.
I remember that I need to download 'appsync' to get those apps onto my Iphone. but which one I have to choose? for OS 3.0 or 3.1? I believe after we did all this we still in OS 3.1 right?

That's the one I should use if I'm with Rogers (Canadian)? I just tried it and after putting my SIM card in, it wont activate. If I use the one with hacktivation I get in but left with no signal.

I did exactly like Solid Snake did. I use
- ITunes 8.2.1.6
- iPhone1,2_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
- Redsn0w 0.8
- iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144_Custom_Restore_WO_ACT.ipsw

and it works. Just figure out how to install my apps back & waiting for other post, maybe some of them have been successfully sync their apps back.

just maybe, maybe u don't have to take ur Sim out while doing all this.
I don't have any problem with my carrier. But this is only suggestion, because I'm not in Canada & I don't use Rogers.

another suggestion is, why don't u try the official jailbreak for 3.1 with Mac ( maybe u can borrow from ur friend's Mac if u don't have one )
The reason I'm doing this is because I can't borrow from anyone.

I found that you can't sync your apps in iTunes (I mean legal apps), it works fine when you have 3.0 (unjailbroken) but not in the custom firmware of 3.1. You can grab iTunes 9, but I couldn't seem to get my .itl files working. I had to rebuild my music library for some reason. You'll have to do this anyways because 8.2 wont recognize your itl files anyways.
Anywho, this worked perfect for me and I'm in Canada on Rogers! Thanks Philip84 and others! Great guide!

I did everything and when i try to use the 3.1 firmware after i hit shift it starts to restore but then stops saying it cannot be restored error message

Do you have iTunes 8.2.1.6? And have you already restored the 3.0 firmware (official) and jailbroken it with RedSn0w 0.8?

yes i did the official update first i had to downgrade and jailbreak back from 3.0 and install the 8.2 itunes

As long as you have the iPhone1,2_3.1_7C144_Custom_Restore_WO_ACT file, you may have to just start the whole process from the beginning. Re-update to 3.1 (official) then follow the guide again from scratch. This may take awhile but this way should work, as it has worked for others and myself on this forum, besides, this way you can ensure that all steps were performed properly for a second time so you can officially rule out missteps.

That may be your problem, you may have to search torrent sites to find that one, but I can't give you the link as it is against forum rules. The reason that one may not have worked is because it does not appear, by the looks of the file name, to be a custom firmware, it looks more like the official one.

to albertlovato : yes u can find it if u google it. i try before i post this message. try to type the name of the file to search the correct one. just find the free download one.
it's torrent file. (consider this as a hint for u to search for the file) u need software to download & open the file, but they give u the link to download the software as well.. come one, u can do it. I was hopeless before but solid snake give me the right clue.

and @ solid snake, I'm not talking about a legal apps. I never buy one. I'm talking about the apps from cydia. & now I successfully sync my apps again, just have to download the appsync 3.1 from cydia first.

after all of this, is this means that we are completely jailbroken the 3.1 or just temporary? coz from my point of view, with all the things that i can do again, it seems the same when I was on 3.0 jailbroken.
anyway, I'm so happy to have my IPhone not so regular again. It's suck if u have Iphone without jailbreak it. I wish I will never have to go through this again... Fiuhhhh
