Ok So I just got a 3gs, it came with 3.1/05.11.07 stock on it, i have jailbroken and unlocked it, but when i try 2 upgrade to 3.1.2 due to several apps it will not let me. Can I go back to 3.0 and then up to 3.1.2 I read somewhere you can, and somewhere else that you could not. Please give me a little clarification on this situation... Thanx in advance..

I have 3gs with 3.1.2 and JB blackra1n, everything work brilliant, and i donīt have any problems, but i want to ask, today my battery was at 23% and when I go to charge it on my computer battery at the same time was 53%, is this ok? Or?

hi i followed the steps and installed itune 8.2,
did the process until step 10 got error 1015 with itunes ok ignored that,after step 14 restore with custom fw still getting the error 1015,once pressed ok in itunes,iphone went into the restore mode (a man with 2 hands up npebea),what to do,please teach me

This is a very old post. What are you trying to do? 1015 is a BB error, the picture of Steve Jobs talking in Russian suggests you are using a pwned FW but what were you on and what are you trying to restore to and why?

hey, i followed your instructions step by step

i had a iphone 3g jailbroken and unlocked to any carrier running 3.0

i found a custom 3.1 firmware and did the restore with itunes 8.2 just as you said.

the restore went fine, and i could restore all my previous data from my iphone to the new firmware (contacts, messages, etc)

but, i dont seem to have any signal, it says no service, and doesnt identify my carrier.
on the settings it doesnt allow me to choose my carrier anymore.

its running on baseband 04.26.08

is there any way around this?
i really would like to use my phone..

can i just use the same method to restore my old 3.0 custom firmware and it will all be ok as it was?

well i tried your method once again...

put the iphone i dfu mode since i was doing a downgrade,

did a restore to my old 3.0 firmware, and the iphone now has network coverage...

so... what might the problem be with upgrading to 3.1?
is it the custom 3.1 firmware i might be using?

You don't have to wait for Geohot to release the jailbreak. Moreover his Limera1n takes forever and may never come.....
Restore to a custom firmware created either by Pwnage tool or SnowBreeze 1.6.2 of iOS 4.0. After the restore, unlock with Ultrasn0w.

This thread is very, very old. things have moved on a lot.
Your SIM only works on your network. To use your phone on another network you need a SIM for the network you want to use it on.

The latest FW for the 3G is now 4.1 which can be JB but NOT unlocked. Be careful not to upgrade to this.

If you get an iPhone 4 now the chances are it will be on 4.02 or 4.1 which can't be unlocked, if you get one that is still on 4.01 it can be unlocked but this is unlikely.
