Restore Issues

This is my first post, so sorry if its not in the correct location but....

I got all excited about the 3.1 update like I always do when apple announces "new features" so I restored my phone back to its stock bore. I had SBSettings and I had turned on the Wifi in numbers, now after the restore and update those bars remained numbers.... Any ideas???

I plan on returning my phone because it has dust under the screen but something like that, i feel, will give me away.

try setting up as new and not from a backup
