Cool 3G Restore WITHOUT losing contacts and apps
Every topic I've read thus far isn't quite what I'm looking for.

I just want to restore my jailbroken iPhone 3G 3.0.1 back to its original firmware WITHOUT losing my contacts and apps.

If that can't be done, is there a way to at least back them up and put them back in later? Any help?

(BTW - The reason I'm doing this is because CYDIA crashed. Besides, I figured it'd be nice to start from a clean state again)

Just sync with iTunes before and after you're done restoring.
I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something

Thanks AngiePangie. Do I need to download the 3.01 Firmware file in order to restore?

Mhm... And just hold shift(or option) and click on restore then browse to the 3.0.1 firmware.

    Default Unsuccesful jailbreak
I'm in the same situation as calimalim except I did not get to unlock mine. I got an error message from cydia saying "failed to fetch http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com/./Packages.bz2 Sub-process bzip2 returned an error code(2)". "Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored."
I'm not sure if my jailbreak was succesful. What should I do?
