Getting a 3GS soon... worried.

I'm worried that I might get 3.1 out of the box... I'm hoping that Apple hasn't started shipping out 3GS's with the new firmware.

unlikely. still, if you need to unlock the phone you're pretty much screwed right now. if all you need is a jailbreak, you might be lucky but noone knows
