Default any way to restore an iphone without a sim card?
So a friend has a 2g and he wanted me to jailbreak it for him...problem is it has no sim and i have to restore it before i can jailbreak it because its not activated..

Is is possible to restore without a sim card because itunes won't let me...tried DFU mode and restore and without a sim and it still says i need a sim...would a prepaid sim work?

can an unactivated iphone really be rendered useless without having its original sim?

if anyone has any idea, please let me know!

SIM has nothing to do with it - you are probably not doing things right.
Suggest reading here. redsn0w And when you are through - READ AGAIN.
    Do hope that helps

-.- There's a forum that I just answered this question to. You should've dug around a little more. Jailbreak first with redsn0w, like ^ said, then restore.
