Can't install essentials on cydia
I jailbreaked (again) with redsn0w, and now I went to cydia, and it says theres essential packages, like normal. So I install, but it doesn't work because it says "Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2), and in the background it shows "dpkg: parse error, in file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 26 package 'firmware': duplicate value for user-defined field 'Name' And then it tells me straight away again I need to install essentials, I install, error. Keeps going. What is hapenning? What's the point of these 'essential' packages anyway? Icy doesn't prompt you to install them... I think I have a guess: I already had my ipod touch (2g 3.0) jailbroken, but something went wrong so I restored. I named my ipod the same as last time 'Mitch's iPod Touch'. Do you think that some files never got erased and ... idk. Please help.
I guess I will try rejailbreaking if no one answers...Last edited by mk12; 08-05-2009 at 04:13 PM.

That's what I would suggest... it sounds like something did not install properly.I guess I will try rejailbreaking if no one answers...
