I want to jailbreak my wifes 3G running on 3.0.1. What would be the safest way to do this?

I have jailbroken my 3G but its on 3.0 not 3.0.1. I used redSn0w 0.7.2 for it. Is it safe to use it with the 3.0.1 but just use the 3.0 ispw?

I would use redsn0w 0.8, since it is the newest version, but yes. When it asks you to browse for the ispw select the 3.0 firmware.

I would stay on 3.0 for now. There will be an update in Cydia soon for possible SMS issues.

How can i get her phone back on 3.0? I tried to get redSn0w 0.8 but it will not find a program to run it. Am I missing something?

You stated in this post that you were on 3.0.

He told that he was on 3.0 but his wife is on 3.0.1
If you want to downgrade your iphone,download the 3.0 firmware file and shift/restore in itunes to that firmware.

My phone is on 3.0 and JB on redsn0w 0.7.2 and its fine. My wifes phone is needing the JB and its on 3.0.1.

Make sure you downgrade in dfu mode

No. DFU mode is not the same as recovery mode. DFU mode has a black screen while recovery has the cable pointing to the iTunes logo.

So, hook up to itunes, put the phone into DFU mode and then do the downgrade. Will it come out of DFU mode when done?

Yes. It is only in DFU mode until the device is restored.

Update to 3.01 and redSn0w. Why leave your phone vulnerable?
