noob help
hows it guys, im new and i have a prob with my iphone.
i bought a 2.2 3g J/B and U/L. Used it on tmobile it was working great but i wanted to update it. so i updated the software to 3.0. It lock'd back up, i know which is normal. now, i tried J/B'ing it again and there is always error 1604 while i try to custom resore it. and so i just restored it normally w/o the custom file. now i cant activate it because i dont have a at&t sim card. any help whatsoever? pls and thank you...

how did you try to install the custom firmware? did you put your phone in dfu mode before?
because for me, I can only install custom firmwares when my phone is NOT in DFU or restore mode. if I just plug it in and then install the custom firmware it works fine, if I put it in dfu mode before I get error 1604.
so: if you put your phone in dfu mode: try without dfu mode. if you didn't put your phone in dfu mode: try in dfu mode

third option: restore mode. but if you are in restore mode you can't get out until you restore. so if the custom FW doesn't work you need to restore with stock firmware to get out of restore mode.
fourth option: try another computer, preferrably a mac.
fifth option, gotta work: redsn0w

Restore to stock 3.0
Run RedSn0w using stock 3.0
Run UltraSn0wHe who asks a question looks foolish for 5 minutes. He who doesn't ask a question remains foolish forever.

Have you tried to reboot (power & home) after you unplug it?

Run redsn0w again. and if it gets stuck on the waiting for reboot screen again then just unplug the USB cord and plug it right back in.
I always feel sorry for the guy in the iPhone commercials. He always gets a call right in the middle of trying to do something
