confused on 2.2.1... unlocked 2g iphone but cant access SB

hi! friend of mine got back from the US. he has an unlocked 2g running on 1.1.4. i upgraded it to 2.2.1 (since its the only firmware i have at the moment for 2g) then unlock it using quickpwn 2.2-5. after the unlock i insert his atnt sim then it became activated. now, i insert a local sim then the screen goes back to recovery screen but there is a full bar signal on the local network. it kept saying sim card is not valid. can anyone please enlighten me... btw, im using itunes 8.2

You have to unlock It to be able to use it on different carriers. I'd link you a guide, but I'm on mobile. Sorry

thanks bteamear, but i've run the unlock as well on the quickpwn. thats why theres a signal using local sim, which it should be the case since it was locked on atnt. now, everytime i insert the local sim i got back to the recovery menu. and then it says invalid sim, but there's a full signal of local provider. (sorry for my english, if your confused... )

got it fixed already! upgraded it to frimware 3.0. thanks!
