Will purplera1n work on 3g runninng 3.0, or only 3GS?

as title says, can i use it to unlock a 3G (or is it only for 3GS). if not, is there a different vesion for 3G?

I highly doubt purplera1n works on the 3G, but Redsn0w definitely does. purplera1n was built specifically to jailbreak the 3GS, and Redsn0w came before that for the second gen iPod touch and later the iPhone as the jailbreak tool for 3.0.
