Okay so i decidednot to wait for quickpwn and tried on myself
i got a custom ispw from http://www.mininova.org/get/2700484 i did not create it i will not take the credit
1)download the torrent
2)i used ziphone to put my phone in real DFU mode has to be in dfu mode to work
3)once its in dfu mode press shift and restore then use the custom firmware note:u dont have to update to 3.0 and then restore to custom
4)let it install

I followed the OP's steps and was able to update my 2G/Tmobile to 3.0.

are you getting any problems crashing? i used red snow, some of the stuff crashes and then makes it not easy to unlock when ppl calling while the fone is locked

do you need to update itune too? am on 8.0 and 2.1 2g unlock iphone
and also do we need to use ziphone for dfu mode or can we just dfu the normal way?

I knew absolutely nothing about all the upgrading restrictions on jailbroken phones.. I got the jailbroken and unlocked (for T-mobile) iPhone 2g 2.2.1 as a gift and then I heard of the 3.0 upgrade so I just went and tried it without taking any precautions. After upgrading I got to a screen that said my "PIN is not supported". Am I locked out forever? Is there any hope at all???

yes update itunes
u dont have to use ziphone but it has a feature which puts your phone in dfu mode really easy

do u mean sim not suppported??
did u have your sim on pin locked or something like that?

Yes it said SIM not supported.. I think it's just because it was a T-mobile SIM and the iTunes was telling me to insert a supported SIM to activate iPhone. But I put the whole story on a new thread in here and someone told me to just use redsn0w to unlock and jailbreak it all over again.. It worked! Thanks for your help!!!

am slightly confused ...tell once agin. Mine is a unlock...jailbroken right(2g...2.1fw).
So i put it on dfu(lets say via ziphone) and shift restore in itunes 8.2...thats it!!
or do i use redsnOw? ...there wont be any lockup and blah blah ...

just make sure its put in dfumode either thru ziphone or manually the correct way
