Default iPhone OS 3.0 Beta3 upgrade - has it broken the USB of my MacBookPro?

Hello everyone, this is my first post!

    Fantastic forum this!

I had my 3G iPhone running a jailbroken 2.2.1 (I remember downloading something from the apple dev site to ensure I wouldn't have a problem when entering DFU mode as I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.5.6

Anyway all was running smoothly. I just downloaded and installed the Beta 3 software for iPhone OS 3.0 and as soon as I plugged in a USB memory stick into my laptop it immediately shows a gray screen and a message saying that I need to restart my computer.

Does this relate to the DFU mode in any way? Has anyone else had this problem or has a possible solution?

    Many thanks
    Matthew

Tried two memory sticks, both did this? Hmm not sure what could have happened
