This is the official release from the iPhone Dev team that works for the iPhone 3G, iPhone, iPod Touch 1G, and iPod Touch 2G (only resn0w jailbreaks ip2g)

After you have the custom FW open iTunes:

For mac os x, hold the Option key and press “Restore”, this will open up a window where you can navigate and choose your new custom ipsw created by Pwnage Tool.

For Windows, hold the Shift key and press “Restore”, this will open up a window where you can navigate and choose your new custom ipsw created by Pwnage Tool.

Enable Battery Percentage
1. SSH into your iphone
2. Go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Springboard.app/
3. Download the file M68AP.plist
4. Open the file using a text editor or a plist editor
5. Add a Boolean value under the capabilities dictionary
6. Boolean Key = gas-gauge-battery / Boolean Value = true
7. Save and upload the file to the same directory that it was originally in
8. Go onto the iPhone and respring
9. Now go to the application
Settings -> General -> Usage and there will be a Battery Percentage toggle and you can use it to enable battery percentage next to battery icon in top-right corner.


To allow iTunes to select custom ipcc you must do the following

For mac os x:

In terminal type "defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE" without qoutes

For windows:

Open cmd prompt. Start>Run>cmd
Type these two lines, pressing return after each:
cd “cProgram Files\iTunes”
iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1

This is the updated ipcc and instructions that will allow MMS, Tethering, Internet, Visual Voicemail, and access to the Cellular Network Settings.

You will need to hold shift+update for windows and option+update for a Mac. Select the ipcc file and it will flash your phone in about 5 seconds. Reboot your phone and you should be good.

Remember I have gotten an AT&T rep to provision my account for MMS. Updating with this file in no way guarantees you will have MMS. Check out my MMS guide here for further directions:

Well everyone this has been a fun ride. There were a lot of ups and downs through out the beta cycle and I am glad that the final release of 3.0 is here and so is the jailbreak. So much has happened since that evening of 04/01/09 when I posted this thread. I have made so many friends on this thread and I have enjoyed the f5 smashing and all the late nights so much. The daily routine of checking this thread 100 times a day is something that oddly enough I am going to miss. No worries I am not going anywhere and I suspect the same of you. There are still may projects that need work.
