so you restore 3.0 beta 2 in itunes, get an activation screen in itunes after restored, then you launch quickpwn and follow the instructions?

i don't mean the jailbreaking process.

whenever i tried to use beta 1 after restoring i got an activation screen from at&t and apple.

will i still get that using beta 2, this is directly in itunes.

Yes, if your iPhone's uuid is not added to a developer account itunes will know it and won't let you use the iphone. At that point, if you jailbreak you could use the iphone

doesn't seem to like vmware fusion XP on my mac

i have vmware to auto-connect usb devices and it works fine until i get to "release power button and continue to hold home" the count down starts and it gets to 20 and then stops for a few seconds and then runs down quickly leaving me with " something about the USB device error maybe a bad cable"

i tried another cable and gave it about 10 tries and no luck

i will have to wait until i get home and dust off my XP machine i guess

i thought i had used vmware in the past but who knows

any advice would be great

Jailbreak is used to fail in virtual machines. Do it directly on windows

You cannot run this on a virtual machine.

If you are not registered with a dev and need to have this activated. You must not restore to 3.0 you have to upgrade to. Once your legit at&t account is activated you wont have to do it again. So get on 2.2 or 2.2.1 activated then upgrade to 3.0, run quickpwn and check the activated box. Good luck.

If this is too much trouble pay the $5.00 and be done with it.

sorry man, it has been trial and error and i have been at this for 13 hours. All the original instructions were in russian. That is the only way I have been able to get it to work. Again it might not be worth the time for $5 to a dev.

Did you want to sell a few spots? I know I am going to need one with mine crashes because I don't want to downgrade and upgrade again

It wouldn't run on my virtual machine so i had to dust off an old laptop with xp on it. Then update the .net framework, and update to service pack 3. it was a pain

sorry if this has already been posted but i have a question..I have an iphone 3g and what i would like to do is run the 3.0 beta 2 jailbroken with my iphone 3g. However i do not have a dev account. When i jailbreak and activate.. icy doesn't work and i don't have any service what so ever. I was wondering if there is anyway to successfully run 3.0 beta 2 jailbroken on an iphone 3g without a dev account

btw there are some need things inside the file system once you ssh into it. Bluetooth stack, itouch's nike app uses a fm tuner to work (could be used to tune into radio possibly)
