Firmware 3.0 All Inclusive Jailbroken Awesomeness!

dont worry. you are not a registered dev. you clicked activate in quickpwn. what you need to do is:

The video does not show how to change firmware.

1. Install 3.0 b2 firmware
2. run quickpwn
3. download Iutilite
4. Install Iutilite
5. Make sure your iphone is connected to your computer

5. When it asks for IP and Password just hit the X to the window and let the program open. Do not let the update run (I had problems with this, you may not). What I did was delete the update program from the iutilite folder before it had a chance to run the update.
6. Go to the strings tab in Iutilite
7. Go to the area where it says change firmware from 2.1 to, and enter into the blank box: 2.1
8. Click the OK
9. I unplugged my iphone from my computer and plugged it back in. I tunes starts up and you should be able to activate. I had to try this a couple of times, but mine did work after the third or fourth try.

true. i have symlinked my apps, ringtones, wallpapers, and fonts. I have a 147 mb free!

Icy 1.1 Update

Mobilesubtrate

Cydia is not working.

You must have saurik's repo installed to get icy 1.1.

apt.saurik.com

Upgrade to Icy 1.1, install core utils.

Using Winscp ssh into your phone (ip address)

username: root
password: alpine

control t to open a terminal

Move /Applications to /private/var/stash/Applications by doing this:

mkdir /private/var/stash
mkdir /private/var/stash/Applications
cp -Rv /Applications/* /private/var/stash/Applications/
mv /Applications /Applications.bak
ln -s /private/var/stash/Applications /Applications
chmod -R 6755 /private/var/stash/Applications/Icy.app/Icy

SSH back in and delete /Applications.bak

Done and Done!

The app does run, and actually does connect to my sip server. It just crashes when I try to actually make a call. I'm guessing there is an API change that is causing it problems.

BTW I just noticed that Siphon is in icy under utilities.

I was able to get MMS working on my IPHONE 3.0 b2. Here is what I did:

You will need the attached IPCC file to get this working.
Just go into ITUNES with your Iphone plugged in and hold down SHIFT and click update and select the IPCC file. Then follow the steps below.

You will also need a spare phone. Maybe possible without one.

You may have to try calling back a couple of times. This took me about 4 tries.


I called AT&T and told them to add a non iphone text messaging plan to my line because I often switch between an IPHONE and a Treo.

Once they did this. I then told them that I would like to test out MMS on my Treo to make sure I could receive mms messaging . I did not say I was trying to receive MMS on my IPhone, just on my Treo.

I tried a test on my Treo but couldn't receive MMS. I told the AT&T rep this and he said he was going to check something in my account. Not sure what he checked. All he told me was that he was double checking to make sure there was a non IPhone text messaging plan on my account.

After he did this I tried another test on my treo and it worked.

I took the sim out of my treo and put into my iphone and I was able to receive MMS!!!

I hope this helps people.

Hey Stealth, can't thank you enough for such a concise answer. I was seriously thinking no one would reply because I was asking a lot. I have added sauriks repo but I still cannot update to 1.1 Icy. Is there something special I need to do or does it ask to update on its own?

Indeed I did. 6.9.5 version I believe. Tried Bossprefs as well. It pops up and vanishes before it loads. Also, iRealQuickSMS uses mobilesubstrate, anyone know if this is compatible with 3.0 yet??

yea bossprefs doesnt work. mobilesubstrate is working so you could try irealquicksms. try resetting your phone then installing 1.1. what does it say when you try to install it?

Hi Guys i Jailbroke my 3.0 beta 2 and all is working fine please find my guide below

Restore from Itunes using the new firmware (you have to be registered as a DEv for activation ,,,,,recommended)

Run quickpwn and follow instructions (uncheck the activation box, its very imporatant or you will not get a Carrier signal)

Run Icy , then add all sources and then hit the refresh button (incase it does not show any app close icy open again and refresh all sources(

Once all the apps show up search and intsall in the following order

OpenSSH (SSL will also be installed)
Update to Icy 1.1
Core Utils
Mobile Substrate
Cydia (will not work but is required for bosstool to fuction)
Boss tools

After installation u will get a message saying low disk space....install of using SSH to manually change the applicaton and ringtones folder just start bosstools and it will do the needfull (it wrks as long as u install all what i Have listed)

tada....its now ready to be used as required.....


PLEASE NOTE DO NOT INSTALL WINTERBOARD AS IT DOES NOT WORK AND IT CAUSES YOU IPHONE TO BE STUCK IN A BOOT LOOP.....

For those who want to SSH in to their phone and have a shell you can do this from a linux, OSX or cygwin BASH terminal:

ssh root@iphone -i

This gives you an interactive console using your local BASH

Try installing cydia, then install icy 1.1 that worked for me
